In 1927, the Administrative Judicial Districts Act divided the state into administrative judicial districts, each composed of several judicial districts which are presided over by one of the regularly elected district judges appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of the Senate. In 1987, an amendment to conform to the Court Administration Act substituted "regions" for "districts", thus the title of Administrative Judicial Regions was adopted.
