ADMINISTRATIVE JUDICIAL REGION RESPONSIBILITIES



The duties of a Presiding Judge are administrative in nature. They involve ensuring the promulgation of regional rules of administration within policies and guidelines set by the supreme court; advising local judges on case flow management and auxiliary court services; recommending to the chief justice of the supreme court any needs for judicial assignments from outside the region, any changes in the organization, jurisdiction, operation, or procedures of the region necessary or desirable for the improvement of the administration of justice; acting for a local administrative judge when the local administrative judge does not perform the duties required; implementing and executing any rules adopted by the supreme court, providing statistical information, and performing duties assigned by the chief justice of the supreme court. A Presiding Judge serves for a term of office of four years from the date of qualification as the Presiding Judge.
